For visiting the five Cinque Terre villages you do not need a car. The best way to get around Cinque Terre is by train, boat or hiking.
If you are doing a round trip around Italy, renting a car can be a great alternative to relying on public transportation. The easiest way is to rent a car directly at the Milano Malpensa Airport, at Pisa Airport or at the airport you fly into.
If you arrive by car to Cinque Terre, we recommend you to stay in Monterosso. Try to book an accomodation with private parking. To reach the other four Cinque Terre villages by car can be difficult and time consuming.
