    A boat trip in the Cinque Terre is one of the best way to discover this beautiful coastline with its rugged cliffs, turquoise water and colorful fishing villages.

    Enjoy the beautiful views of the Cinque Terre by taking the ferry that runs between the villages from 1st of April until 1st of November.

    The boats run frequently from the ports of La Spezia and Portovenere to the villages of the Cinque Terre and stops in Monterosso, Vernazza, Manarola and Riomaggiore. The ferry does not stop in Corniglia since this is the only village without water access. There are also connections to the towns Levanto, Portofino and to the island of Palmaria.

    The ferry tickets cannot be purchased online in advance. You can buy the boat tickets 30 minutes before departure at the ticket counters located near the docking points.

    The best way to get around in the Cinque Terre is by train. There are trains running frequently all year around between the five villages.

    From March 15 until November 1st, the local trains Cinque Terre Express, are running every 20 minutes and stop in Levanto, Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola, Riomaggiore and La Spezia.

  • Cinque Terre footpaths

    There is over 120 km of trails along the Cinque Terre coast line. There is no entrance fee to the Cinque Terre National Park. There are 48 hiking trails and you will only need a special ticket, a Cinque Terre Card, for the two most famous trails: Monterosso - Vernazza and Vernazza - Corniglia. All other trails are for free. The Cinque Terre Trekking card costs 7.50 Euros a day and the Cinque Terre Train Card costs 16 Euros a day. From November until Easter all the hiking trails are free of charge.     On this page you will find information about the current condition of the Cinque Terre hiking trails.
    During the winter months, some (not all) hiking trails are closed due to maintenance work. Especially the Monterosso - Vernazza and Vernazza - Corniglia trails are often closed in winter due to landslides.
    There are always alternative trails open. For example, the Levanto - Monterosso, Manarola - Volastra - Corniglia trails and the higher trails are almost always open. Upon arrival, please contact one of the Cinque Terre tourist offices for more information about alternative trails.
