If you are planning a trip to Cinque Terre, we highly recommend you to pick Levanto as your base for a couple of nights. Levanto is just north of Cinque Terre, and you can reach the five villages by train in just a few minutes or by boat. There is also a hiking trail from Levanto to Monterosso (2 hours).
Located on the coast, Levanto has a beautiful town center, a pretty beach and a good choice of restaurants and small shops. It is easier to find parking and accommodation here and the prices are usually lower than in nearby Cinque Terre, making it one of the most budget-friendly accommodation options in this area.
