Cinque Terre Italy

Best time to hike in the Cinque Terre is during spring time, from March until June and during the autumn, September - October.

If you visit the Cinque Terre during July and August, you have to head out as early as possible to avoid the midday heat. The hiking trails have different levels of difficulty. It normally takes 1,5-2 hours to hike from one village to the next. Don’t forget to bring water and suitable shoes.

During off-season, from November 4 until March 14, the hiking trails are open. The temperatures are mild, and you also find fewer tourists. During the winter all trails are free and you do not need to purchase the Cinque Terre Card. In winter some trails can be closed after some heavy rain due to maintenance work. Anyway, there are always alternative trails open: Updated list open trails.
