Small dogs, cats and other pets that are kept in carriers, no bigger than 70 x 30 x 50 cm, travel for free in first and second class on all the different types of trains in Italy.
A dog of any size can travel with a muzzle and leash in both first and second-class. In this case you will have to purchase a ticket at half the price of the regular fare or a Cinque Terre Train Card for children.
Don't forget to bring with you an international passport with vaccination details, canine registry certificate and health booklet. For additional information, please ask before departure at the ticket office at the train station.
